CLEANBC INDIGENOUS COMMUNITY ENERGY COACH PROGRAM

BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources

Origin is designing and leading this innovative incentive and capacity building program to improve energy literacy and facilitate heat pump installations in Indigenous communities across BC. The program is a key component of the CleanBC plan.

CLIMATE LENS POLICY AND CLIMATE EMERGENCY DECLARATION RESPONSE

City of Victoria

Origin helped coordinate a response to Council’s declaration of a climate emergency, including robust and ambitious policy recommendations to help the City achieve net zero carbon emissions by the year 2030. The project also included developing an approach to applying a climate lens to all corporate decisions.

OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN CLIMATE ACTION POLICY

Town of Sidney

Origin is working with MODUS, Integral Group and Barefoot Planning on this OCP project in a similar role to that proposed, here. Origin’s role is to establish policies that align with best practices and set up the community for successful climate action, including development policies that encourage low impact, low carbon development, such as BC Energy Step Code and EV readiness requirements.

HEMLOCK VALLEY OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN 

Fraser Valley Regional District 

Origin worked with Barefoot Planning on this OCP update project in a similar role to that proposed, here. Origin’s role was to establish policies that align with best practices and set up the community for successful climate action.

CLIMATE ACTION STRATEGY AND COMMUNITY ENERGY AND EMISSIONS PLAN SUPPORT 

City of Richmond

Origin is supporting the City of Richmond develop their updated Climate Action Strategy and Community Energy and Emissions Plan. Origin’s role is to support the sustainability team with writing, framing and reviewing content in the Strategy, providing a planning and communications lens to ensure concepts are being communicated clearly. The goal is to create a best practice document that builds upon Richmond’s leadership on climate action.

SOUTH HIGHLANDS LOCAL AREA PLAN 

District of Highlands 

Origin is working with Barefoot Planning on this LAP project in a role similar to that proposed, here. Origin’s role is to advise on sustainability policies for the district that are appropriate to be included in a LAP, including development policies that encourage low impact, low carbon development, and design guidelines that contribute to those outcomes.

BC ENERGY STEP CODE SUPPORT

City of New Westminster

Origin is supporting the City of New Westminster to develop a series of guidance bulletins for applicants. The purpose of the bulletins is to improve understanding and clarity around Step Code requirements, including how and when they impact application processes.

 

Strategic Planning + Research

 

STRATEGIC ENERGY MANAGEMENT PLANNING

BC Ministry of Citizens’ Services

Origin is providing Strategic Energy Management Planning services to Provincial ministries through an innovative corporate supply arrangement spanning a period of two years. Origin will be working with Focal Engineering to provide guidance with regard to energy and carbon reduction measures on Provincially owned facilities.

 

VEHICLE CO2 EMISSION AND SPACE REQUIREMENT STUDY

Capital Regional District

Origin conducted a carbon calculation study of various travel modes in the Capital Regional District. The purpose of the project was to illustrate the carbon impacts of transportation mode choice, as well as the impact on regional congestion.

 

EV READY INCENTIVE PROGRAM AND POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS

BC Hydro

Origin worked alongside McEwen Climate & Energy on this best practice research project aimed at identifying challenges and opportunities for expanding EV charging in existing MURB and commercial office buildings.
